If you heard about her then you heard about her famous book “The Chronicles of Dathra, a Dowdy Girl from Kuwait“, Our guest today is famous from her published book and famous among the Kuwait Blogging Community from her Blog “Dnderma”. I’m glad to have her as my next guest in my segment IWB.
Here what she had to say about herself:
- Why did you choose (Danderma) as a name to your blog?
Danderma was used in the old days of Kuwait for ice cream. So its something Kuwaiti, something historical, something I am hooked on, and it has many flavors and various combinations, just like the topics in my blog. Plus, it makes everyone happy, me included 😀
- Tell me about yourself?
Hmmm I am not that interesting really. A very average Kuwaiti girl who loves to read, write, travel, cook, take photos of everything, and blog! I am quite shy and very lazy and can live on nothing but good black coffee for the rest of my life. I am even surprised I made it to the interview section of your blog, now you tell me why :p
- How long have you been blogging?
Since July 2008. That makes it 3 years!
- How many writers (Members) in your blog?
So far its only me. But that might change soon 😉
- What kind of category you see your blog in?
That’s what I’ve been trying to figure out recently. Entertainment perhaps? I guess it has a little bit of everything according to my mood. You see writings, stories, reviews, dieting and fitness, history and childhood items, travel posts, recipes I made as well as catastrophes in the kitchen… etc.!
- How did you start blogging?
I used to be a blog lurker but I used to comment a lot on this particular blog by blogger Yara. My comments were so long she began telling me to have a blog on my own. Plus, my friends always told me I had a way of describing things that made them sound fun and intriguing. I opened a blog, posted one post about me becoming a blogger, then forgot about it totally until I received a comment by blogger Vixen Fatale to tell me basically we are waiting where is it? So I got my courage up and started blogging ever since 😀
- What was the reaction of the people around you about your blog?
Surprisingly people who know me actually realized it’s my blog upon reading its content! I guess I just give away too many details :p
But so far everyone who know it’s my blog tell me they like it a lot 😀
- What kind of marketing method you used for your blog (How’s did you prompted your blog)?
I didn’t really market it. I come from the old blogging days when bloggers were friends who followed life’s ups and downs of the other bloggers. I guess we commented on each other’s blogs long enough until we became well known to each other.
- Do you have any new ideas coming soon to your blog?
Yes. I am thinking of having another contributor who would bring a newer perspective to the blog especially in areas that I fail to blog about. Plus, I would love to raise more social issues and help out more, give something back to the community. Plus I have several photography related posts that are just getting formulated in my mind that are a bit different.
- What do you advise the guys/girls who just started blogging?
Do not open the blog, email a couple of famous bloggers for reviews and complements, and sit around waiting for readers. First drop the “review me please” attitude. Second, let the quality of your posts grab the attention of others and you will make it in no time. Third, get out there, comment on other blogs and move from one blog to another to check what others are writing. Also, veer away from topics that are mean, dirty, racist, or overly reviewed and used. Ee o choose a blog name that won’t make people ashamed when saying it out loud to others.
- Any last words to your readers?
Do not be afraid of flying away from the flock and doing something different if you know in your heart it is the right thing to do. You have been given the most amazing gift on earth: a mind of your own. Use it!
